Americans Travel Abroad for Surgical Procedures

It seems as though American surgical procedures do not stack up to claims made by Americans that their medical care is the best available at a cost effective basis.

In 2010, approximately 878,000 Americans will travel abroad for surgical procedures. This flies in the face of the claim that American medical care is the best in the world.

The truth is American medical care is way over priced and out of reach of the average low paid American. That is why so many Americans travel abroad for surgery. Even some American Health Insurance companies are outsourcing work to overseas clinics and hospitals to cut costs.

Take the case of one American who ultimately had his nasal polyps removed at a private hospital in Wales at a cost of $2390 after been quoted $33,127 for the procedure to be done in the U.S. , a saving of nearly $30,000. Enough said.
